| Dumping Ground |
| Proposed Youth Shelters |
CW10residents travelled around Middlewich this weekend to have a closer look at the proposed site for the Middlewich Bypass. During our travels we came across areas of our town that seems to be used as a dumping ground for people’s unwanted rubbish. We were absolutely disgusted by our find and have reported it to the Environmental Health department and councillors.
In the summer months this area was used as a stopover point for caravans and we know the council provided bins for the occupants to use. We cannot say what rubbish was left following their departure and what was dumped through illegal tipping. But what ever the case this area appears to have not been cleaned for several months going by the amount of rubbish all the way down Pochin’s Way.
We identified babies nappies which we can only assume have been thrown into the hedgerow after being used. There is countless plastic bags containing household waste, discarded children’s toys and can only imagine the kind of infestation and vermin living under or close to this area. We found piles of plastic guttering and other forms of plastic just dumped in piles as we walked along the hedgerow.
We then travelled to other parts of our town and found other areas being used to carry out illegal dumping of plastic waste. CW10residents find this totally unacceptable and will ensure that this rubbish is cleaned away and regular visits to these areas are made. We will be pushing for some form of sign’s which warn of prosecution and fines for anyone found to be illegally dumping. The picture above is a single snapshot of the careless disregard of the town and they should be ashamed of themselves.
Our members can view the full extent of this total disregard for health and safety through illegal dumping within the members section.

Proposed youth shelters in Middlewich
Two groups of Middlewich residents have contacted CW10residents group about the proposed youth shelters in Middlewich and have expressed their concerns about the two suggested locations 1 - Booth Lane and 2 - Warmingham Lane/Chadwick Road. They feel that the two youth shelters in these locations will only encourage anti-social behaviour, increase litter and will attract unwanted associated activities that these shelters would bring to their proposed locations.
And although a number of residents have submitted objections in writing to Middlewich Vision and Town Councillors; they are still concerned that the sitting of these two youth shelters would still go ahead despite their objections and concerns. CW10residents group members and some of the residents around the two locations still believe the youth shelters are a good idea and would like to see them used somewhere in Middlewich, but do feel that more consideration should be given to the locations and that the residents in other proposed areas should have a full and proper consultation process.
CW10residents have been informed since starting the petition for the proposed Warmingham Lane site by Middlewich Vision that due to the work needed to drain the land and the objections from the Warmingham Lane/Chadwick road residents that this proposed site has now been withdrawn.
On the other hand, local residents close to the proposed Booth Lane site would also like to see this site removed as a possible location. Some of these residents have also sent in written objections and have now submitted a petition to Middlewich Vision before the end of the consultation process. But they do feel that a copy of their petition needed to be presented to the Mayor at the full Middlewich Town Council meeting to reinforce their strong objection to the proposed Booth Lane site.
CW10residents group hope that by signing the petition and presenting it to Middlewich Town Council, that the resident’s objections will be taken seriously and hope they will also see a decision to withdraw Booth Lane as a potential site similar to the decision made on the Warmingham Lane/Chadwick Road site. Our group have offered assistance to Middlewich Vision and the Town Council to find alternative sites for these youth shelters and feel it would be a shame to loose these shelters to other towns in the borough.
